Facilities

 

Facilities exist in the department for teaching and research in different branches on Microbiology and Biotechnology. The major thrust areas are such as Microbial Enzymes/Biocatalysis, Fermentation Technology, Scale-up of Bioprocesses, Antimicrobials, Microbial Biofilms, Microbial Interactions, Vaccine Development, Cancer Biology, etc.

Laboratory details
The department has well-equipped teaching laboratory, specialized research laboratories, centralized internet-enabled computer laboratory and a common instrumentation laboratory. The department faculty members are undertaking several R&D projects sponsored by various National funding agencies including DBT, DST, SERB, CSIR, UGC, ICMR etc, and industries.

Library
The department library has hard copies of more than 400 books pertaining to the course curriculum of Microbiology, Biotechnology and allied subjects. Additionally, books and journals subscribed by Panjab University are also available through intranet.
